Join us for another fantastic and informative program presented by the National Park Service. Elementary school classes and the public are invited to attend one of two programs offered on Tuesday, April 8th. Programs will be at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Park Service Interpreter Lisa Dittman will share with us all there is to know about spiders. Different varieties of spiders and other bugs will be on display, including E.T. the Tarantula. We'll also take a field trip around the library to see what kinds of bugs we can find. at all levels of the game. April 10, Thurs. - Teen Balloon Lift-Off Day - Thursday, April 10th. Teens are invited to write a letter to a "mystery friend" and include a return address. Bring your letter to the library anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on April 10th, and place your message in a helium balloon. The balloons will be released to travel wherever the wind carries them. Classes from the Middle School will be participating. Be creative, tell a little about yourself, where you are from and anything else someone on "the other side of the world" would like to know. April 12 and 13, Saturday & Sunday - American Bass Fishing Tournament, Wahweap Marina. April 14, Mon. - Circus comes to town! Culpepper and Merriweather Circus will be in Page. Don't miss this award winning history performance by Joyce Badgley Hunsaker, author of
"Sacagawea Speaks", History Book of the Year, 2001. Sponsored by the Friends of
the Library, the performance will be on Tuesday, April 15th at 7:00 p.m. at the library.
Ms. Hunsaker is an award-winning historical interpreter and storyteller. She
performed at the 2002 Winter Olympics and more recently at Monticello for the national

Larson-Keagy will give a lecture entitled "Afghanistan: A Geographical Overview and
the Growing Humanitarian Crisis in the Region" at the John Wesley Powell Museum.
This lecture, which begins at 7 p.m. and is free to the public, coincides with the
anniversary week of the September 11th, 2001 tragic events in New York City, Washington,
D.C. and Pennsylvania. The lecture is part of a series funded by the Arizona Humanities
Council encouraging community discussion. Larson-Keagy is a cultural geographer who
teaches geography and Spanish, and is working for the Arizona Humanities Council as a

Feb. 26, Mon. - Ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Coconino county short-term detention facility. Tours of the facility will be conducted until 6:30 pm for those who cannot attend the ribbon cutting ceremony.
