CEDC FUNDS 13 NEW ECONOMY INITIATIVES
Various initiatives supporting Arizonas GSPED clusters and foundations have received $450,000 in grants from the Commerce and Economic Development Commission as well as $100,000 in funds appropriated by the Legislature.

LOCATION FILMING BOOSTS ECONOMIES THROUGHOUT ARIZONA
Five major films (Planet of the Apes, Evolution, Groom Lake, View From The
Top and Aftermath) have recently completed filming on location throughout
Arizona. Production companies spend close to $25,000 per day - a direct
boost to local economies.

Enterprise Zone renewals and an expansion have been approved for 2001.
Tucson, South Tucson, Tempe, and Benson as well as Pinal County are
affected.

OFFICE OF HOUSING & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ANNUAL REPORT ONLINE ADOCs Housing & Community Development programs made a total estimated economic contribution of $612.5 million to Arizonas economy in FY 2000.
More than 9900 jobs resulted from construction projects facilitated by these
programs.

New county minimum wage standards used in applying for Enterprise Zone tax
credits have been announced for 2001.

PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT: RURAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE (REDI)
This ADOC Community Development program provides technical and grant
assistance to rural communities organizing an economic development program
or effort. REDI helps communities become more attractive for capital
investment and industrial and business locations while preserving and
maintaining existing business and industry.
